How to Increase Your Number of Likes on Face Book

tarting a Facebook Page is easy but growing it into a thriving page with thousands of Likes can
be hard.
There are five basic ways you can go about increasing your Likes – below we share the pros and cons of each.

1. The Fastest Way: Facebook Ads
In my opinion Facebook Ads are the fastest way to grow your Facebook community (unless you’re a giant, global brand like Coca Cola).

You can put together an inexpensive Facebook Like campaign in a matter of minutes — very specifically targeting your core market.

A Facebook Like ad campaign has multiple benefits, the top three of which are:

Increased brand awareness with target audience
Growing the Facebook channel which you can use to nurture leads into customers
Drive traffic to your website from your Facebook Page
When creating your Facebook Like campaign you should clearly state how the viewer will benefit from Liking your page. It should also include a call-to-action to Like the page.

Here are a few examples of Facebook ads aimed at getting people to Like your page:

2. The Cheapest Way: Facebook Widget on Your Site
Facebook offers a free widget that you can add to your website to increase your Likes.

The Widget is called the Facebook Like Box and you can get it here.

Example of a Facebook Like Box.
To add the widget to your site all you have to do is add a little bit of code to the header of your site and then some code where you want the widget to show up.

Most websites install the Facebook Like Box in the sidebar of their site or blog, but really you can place it anywhere you like.

As long as you are getting traffic to your website, people will see your Facebook widget and they will have the opportunity to Like your page right from your website.

Once the widget is installed on your site you don’t need to do anything else. As long as you are providing valuable content on your website, you will likely get people to Like your Facebook page simply by having the widget there.

3. The Social Way: Engage with Pages Your Audience Likes
Another way to grow your Facebook community is to engage other Facebook pages while acting as your page.

To use Facebook as your business Page simply look at the top of your Page and locate the area where it says “You are posting, commenting and liking as Your Name — Change to Company Page Name.”

Start Using Facebook as Your Company Page.
Once you switch over to using Facebook as your Page go to community pages that are related to your industry and start writing on them with insightful, helpful, engaging comments.

Other people who browse the page (who are also interested in your industry) will see your thoughtful comments and many of them will click over to check out your Facebook page. If your page is also full of engaging, helpful content there is a high percentage that they will Like your page.

4. The Marketer’s Way: Cross Promote Your Facebook Page
Marketer’s, myself included, will tell you one way to grow your Facebook community is by cross promoting your page on other communication channels – like your website, your blog, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, email, etc.

There is no reason to not include a call-to-action to Like your Facebook page in your company newsletter, in a tweet every once in a while (not too often) and on other social media sites.

You don’t even need to make the cross promotion exceedingly obvious. Subtlety works well, especially for channels like email:

Add a Facebook button to your emails.
You can see here Facebook simply includes a call-to-action along with a Facebook button in the footer of their email template. This small but simple cross promotion can make a big difference depending on the size of your brand.

5. The Lazy Way: Ask Your Friends to Like Your Page
The oldest and laziest Facebook growth trick in the books is simply asking your friends to Like your page.

I don’t recommend this approach unless your friends fit your target market.

If they do not fit your target market there is little point to asking them to Like your page as they will not care about your updates and probably won’t ever make a purchase from you.

In many cases asking your friends to Like your page is about as valuable as buying Likes. That is to say, not valuable at all. You should never buy Facebook Likes. Not only will Facebook likely remove the fake Likes from your page but there is no business value to having them.

Essentially, you get what you pay for. While a Facebook ad campaign will probably cost you more than buying Likes in bulk, you can at least get a return on your investment from the ad campaign. You will never get a return from your bulk purchase. Just don’t do it.
